Hilton Hawaii Appoints Far East public relations &marketing manager

HONOLULU – Maiko Hanawa has joined Hilton Hawaii as regional public relations and marketing manager-Far East, with responsibilities for the company’s managed properties in Hawaii, including the company’s flagship property, Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. In her new post, Hanawa will lead PR and marketing efforts both in Hawaii and abroad for the Asia market, including Japan, China and Korea.

Hanawa joins the resort with more than 15 years of experience in public relations and marketing at PacRim Marketing Group Inc. where she has excelled in many aspects of travel marketing and public relations. As senior media communications manager, she spearheaded international media relations on behalf of retail, hospitality and restaurant clients, effectively setting up annual objectives and laying out strategic media plans and budgets to meet those objectives. Throughout her career, she has gained traction within the Japanese market in particular. Hanawa has successfully coordinated media events, lead social media campaigns, and designed marketing and PR materials resulting in increased exposure for her clients among Japanese audiences.

Hanawa holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Lewis &Clark College in Oregon. She is fluent in Japanese and English.

CPB promotes Malji to vice president

HONOLULU — Central Pacific Bank (CPB) has promoted Dhwanil Malji to vice president &mortgage compliance manager. In his new position, Malji is responsible for overseeing, managing and improving the Bank’s mortgage compliance function in accordance with the bank’s Compliance Management System, for the purpose of ensuring the Bank’s compliance with all federal and state mortgage laws, rules and regulations.

Malji has 11 years of experience in the financial industry. He previously served as senior compliance officer. Prior to joining CPB, Malji served as executive vice president, CUCE at Greater Kentucky Credit Union Inc. He has a Bachelor of Science in accounting/finance from the University of Bridgeport.

JoAnn Lenhardt of Sheraton Kona honored by Women who Mean Business

KAILUA-KONA — Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa is proud to recognize JoAnn Lenhardt as the resort’s first female executive to be a Women Who Mean Business honoree. Lenhardt was recognized among 37 of Hawaii’s top industry women leaders at the 20th annual Pacific Business News award ceremony. Joining the team in early 2017, Lenhardt’s focus on operational excellence has transformed the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa, making 2017 the most financially successful year in the resort’s history.

Overseeing all resort operations, in her yearlong tenure she has established a steadfast foundation for the hotel to flourish. One of her many notable projects was the $400,000 Rays on the Bay renovation. Additionally, while in leadership transition, Lenhardt took on the role of director of engineering for three months, director of human resources for two months and is currently acting general manager. With the addition of JoAnn to the management team, guest experience scores have increased by double digits.

Lenhardt joined the Marriott family in Philadelphia in 2005. During her hotel career, she has held positions in the front office, sales and catering, food and beverage and operations. During her first 11 years, Lenhardt worked at eight Marriott properties in some of the most sought-after cities, including Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Atlanta, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and now here in Kailua-Kona.
